Eight new aisles for Procter & Gamble - Expansion on the Marktheidenfeld site

With about 38,700 new storage-locations, Kardex Mlog, acting as general contractor, has more than doubled the storage area of Procter & Gamble’s Marktheidenfeld-Altfeld distribution warehouse in Germany. Located on the established site of the Braun Company (which along with Gillette, Oral-B and Wella is one of the leading brands in the portfolio of the international consumer products manufacturer), the 25,600 pallet location capacity of the original 15 year, old eight-aisle warehouse was no longer sufficient.

In the course of the conversion Kardex Mlog constructed a further eight storage aisles, each featuring a 38 metre high, MSingle B-1000 storage and retrieval machine. Each s/r machine is fitted with telescopic forks which can handle unit loads on either four-way pallets or euro-pallets up to 1,320 mm (length) x 920 mm (width) and with a weight of up to 1,000 kg. Their output is 24 double cycles or 42 single cycles per hour per s/r machine. Monitoring of the s/r machines and their load handling devices is carried out via an onboard camera system plus photo-electric cells and laser light sensors.
